Balancing Motherhood and Entrepreneurship

Time Management

Ah, time management.

The holy grail of balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship. It’s like trying to catch a unicorn while simultaneously juggling flaming torches.

First things first, let’s talk about the importance of time management. As a mompreneur, you have a lot on your plate. Between running a business and raising tiny humans, it can feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day – but here’s the thing, there are 24 hours in a day, and you’re a boss lady, so let’s make the most of them!

One trick to mastering time management is to plan ahead.

Yes, I know, planning can be a drag, but it’s like the old saying goes, “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.”

Please, grab a seat with a cup of coffee (or three) and plan out your day, week, and even month. This way, you can avoid the last-minute scramble and actually have time to breathe.

Another key to time management is setting boundaries. It may be easier said than done when you have tiny humans running around, but hear me out. Set specific times for work and specific times for family time. This way, you can focus on one thing at a time, without feeling like you’re neglecting something else.

Lastly, don’t forget to take breaks. I know it sounds counterintuitive, but taking breaks actually helps with productivity. Go ahead and take that dance break with your kids or go for a walk around the block. You’ll come back to work feeling refreshed and ready to tackle that to-do list.

Prioritizing Responsibilities

Balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship can feel like a never-ending circus act. One minute you’re juggling emails, the next you’re juggling nap times and diaper changes. It’s enough to make anyone’s head spin – but fear not, fellow mompreneurs, because there’s one secret weapon that can help you keep all those balls in the air: prioritization!

Yes, that’s right, prioritizing your responsibilities is like putting on your superhero cape and saving the day. You have to figure out what’s most important, what can wait, and what can be delegated to someone else (cue the virtual assistant).

Now, I know what you’re thinking, “but everything is important!”

Trust me, I’ve been there.

The truth is, not everything can be at the top of your to-do list…so, take a deep breath, grab a cup of coffee, and let’s figure this out.

First, let’s start with the obvious: family comes first. Yes, I know your business is your baby too, but let’s be real, your actual babies come first. So, if your little ones need your attention, everything else can wait. Remember, you’re building a business for your family, not at the expense of your family.

Next, let’s talk about the “business” side of things.

You’re a boss lady, so it’s important to prioritize tasks that will help you grow your business. This might mean spending more time on marketing, networking, or building new partnerships. Whatever it is, make sure it’s aligned with your goals and will move your business forward.

 Finally, it’s time to delegate.

Look, I know you’re superwoman, but you can’t do everything on your own. Consider outsourcing some tasks, like social media management or bookkeeping, so you can focus on the bigger picture. Trust me, your sanity will thank you.

Building a Support System

As a mompreneur, you’re basically a superhero, but even superheroes need a little help sometimes. So, it’s time to assemble your squad and get ready to take on the world (or at least your to-do list).

First things first, let’s talk about why a support system is important. It’s simple, really. You can’t do everything on your own. Even if you could, why would you want to?

Life is better with friends, family, and a whole lot of cheerleaders cheering you on.

Where can you find your support system? Well, it’s all around you.

Start with your family and friends. Let them know what you’re trying to achieve and how they can help. Maybe they can watch the kids for an hour or two while you work, or maybe they can spread the word about your business to their friends and family.

Also, don’t forget about social media! There are tons of groups and communities out there for mompreneurs. Join them, participate in discussions, and connect with other women who are on the same journey as you. You might even find a mentor or two who can guide you along the way.

Plus, let’s not forget about those days when you just need to vent or celebrate a win. That’s where your support system comes in. Whether it’s your best friend or your business coach, having someone to talk to can make all the difference.

Building a support system is like building a fort when you were a kid. It takes some work, but once it’s built, it’s a safe haven for you to rest and recharge. Reach out to your family and friends, join some social media groups, and don’t forget to lean on your support system when you need it.

You got this, momma!

Accepting Help

I know, I know. As moms and entrepreneurs, we’re used to being superheroes who can handle anything that life throws our way. We’re supposed to be able to do it all, all the time. But let’s be real here: that’s just not possible. Even Wonder Woman had a support team, right?

Why should you accept help?

Well, for starters, it takes a lot of pressure off of you. You don’t have to be everything to everyone all the time. You can let someone else take care of some things so you can focus on what really matters to you. Plus, accepting help can also be a great way to build community and make connections

Who knows, maybe that babysitter you hired to watch the kids while you work will end up becoming your next business partner. Now, I know some of you might be thinking, “But what about pride? Won’t accepting help make me look weak?”

Let us set something straight: pride needs to be tampered in the world of motherhood and entrepreneurship. If you’re too proud to accept help, you’re only hurting yourself and your business. It takes a village to raise a child, and it takes a team to build a successful business.

Let me give you some examples.

Maybe you need to hire a babysitter or a nanny to help with the kids while you work. Perhaps you could outsource some of your business tasks, like social media management or bookkeeping. You could also join a local mom’s group or entrepreneur’s club to connect with other like-minded people who understand the struggles you’re facing.

That’s why accepting help is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of strength. It takes courage to admit that you can’t do it all and that you need some support. Go ahead, ask for help. You might just be surprised at how much it can benefit you and your business.

Tips for Mothers Who Aspire to Be Entrepreneurs

Understand the Demands of Both Roles

First things first, it’s crucial that you understand the demands of both roles. As a mother, you’re already well aware of the endless responsibilities that come with caring for your children.

From feeding them, to changing diapers, to reading bedtime stories, your plate is already pretty full. Now you want to add entrepreneurship to the mix? That’s amazing!

It’s important to recognize that being an entrepreneur requires a whole different set of demands. You’ll need to dedicate time and energy to building and growing your business, networking, and staying on top of industry trends

It’s not always going to be easy, but if you’re passionate about your business and committed to your family, you can absolutely make it work.

How do you balance both roles without losing your sanity?

One tip is to create a schedule that works for both you and your family. This might mean waking up early to get some work done before the kids wake up, or working in the evenings after they’ve gone to bed. You might also consider hiring a babysitter or nanny to help out with the kids during the day so you can focus on your business.

Another important tip is to be flexible and forgiving with yourself.

There will be times when you need to put your business on hold to attend to your family’s needs, and that’s okay. Remember that you’re doing the best you can and that’s all anyone can ask for.

Start Small and Scale Gradually

Yes, I know it’s tempting to go big or go home, but trust me, starting small is the way to go. Well, for starters, starting small allows you to test the waters and see if your business idea is viable.

You don’t want to invest all your time and money into a business that doesn’t have a strong foundation. Plus, starting small means less stress and less pressure, which is always a good thing for a busy mom like yourself.

Don’t worry, starting small doesn’t mean you can’t dream big! In fact, starting small and scaling gradually allows you to grow your business at a pace that’s manageable for you and your family. It’s like raising a child – you start with the basics, like feeding and changing diapers, and gradually add more responsibilities as your child grows.

Same goes for your business – start with the basics, like building a website and networking, and gradually add more tasks as your business grows.

Take Care of Yourself

What does self-care look like for a busy mompreneur? It can be as simple as taking a few minutes to yourself each day to relax and recharge. Maybe you take a walk around the block, read a book, or indulge in your favorite guilty pleasure.

Whatever it is, make sure it’s something that brings you joy and helps you destress.

Self-care can also mean making time for exercise and healthy eating. Trust me, I know it’s tempting to reach for the pizza and wine after a long day of work and momming, but taking care of your body will give you the energy and focus you need to tackle all the tasks on your to-do list.

Also, don’t forget to treat yourself every once in a while! Maybe you splurge on a fancy new planner to help you stay organized, or you hire a babysitter for a night out with your partner or friends. Whatever it is, don’t feel guilty for taking a little time and money to invest in yourself.

Remember, taking care of yourself isn’t selfish, it’s necessary for running a successful business and being an awesome mom.

———–

With heavily investing in ourselves there is also no need to invest in multiple online courses and masterminds which are not geared toward the woman scaling her business.

We are launching our women’s and invite only Empire Life Mastermind for female founders who are scaling their businesses, and can display in the vetting process making 20,000 USD a month consistently.

———–

In Conclusion

Being an entrepreneur and a mother can be challenging, but it is certainly possible. With careful planning, dedication to both roles, the right attitude, and self-care practices in place, you’ll have all the tools necessary for success.

Remember that starting small and scaling gradually is key when juggling parenthood with business ownership – don’t forget to take care of yourself too! You are capable of achieving your dreams as a mompreneur if you stay organized and focused on what matters most: family first.

Go ahead – chase those entrepreneurial goals while being present enough to enjoy every moment with your children along the way.
