Start Or Maintain Your Self-Care Rituals

If you already have a self-care ritual this is the time to make sure you double up on it. You will need to double up during potentially stressful times, and plan for this. What I mean is for example planning a buffer time of twenty-thirty minutes to unwind when you get home from a family gathering to watch something, take a bath, or something else you enjoy. This is a great blog article we have on the top tips in starting self-care rituals too here. 

Setting Great Boundaries Tips

Let people know what time you will be at the gathering and about the time you will be leaving. For example if you are not comfortable to drive at night, let the host know this ahead of time, and how you will need to leave a bit early to make sure you drive in day-light hours. 

Manage Your Expectations

If you have that one Aunt who always stirs up some new drama, understand she is probably not going to change. Expect it. Be prepared for it, and know when to remove yourself from it. Give yourself some grace around things that are a bit different too with the new normal we have been adjusting too.
